About Inverness

About Inverness

There is plenty of opportunity for leisure in Inverness as well as in the surrounding countryside.

The city itself boasts some great spots for relaxing and walking - including a circular walk from Inverness Castle along the river and through the Ness Islands.

The walk along the river, taking in St Andrews Cathedral is considered one of the best riverside settings in the country.

Even if the weather outside is bad, you can still find some greenery in Inverness at Floral Hall; an indoor botanical garden with ponds and waterfalls.

Above the city lies the hill Craig Phadrig, once the stronghold of Pictish Kings, which offers interesting forest walks.
