Holiday Leave
All full and part-time workers are entitled to four weeks' paid holiday (leave) per year.
A week's leave should allow a worker to be away from work for a period of one week or five days.
So if a worker works five days a week, he or she is entitled to 20 days leave per year.
If a worker only does three days a week, he or she is entitled to 12 days leave.
The worker must give the employer notice that he or she wishes to take a holiday.
The notice period should be agreed between employer and worker, but if no agreement is made then the notice period should be twice the period of holiday requested.
For example, for one week of holiday, two weeks notice would be needed.
Employers may also set the dates that workers take their holiday, for example shutting down at Christmas.
