Priscilla is a Theatre Staff nurse at Monklands Hospital in Lanarkshire.
"I chose to live, study and work in Scotland because I felt that the atmosphere was conducive to concentrate on my studies.
"The student lifestyle has been affordable and relaxed enough to allow me to focus on my studies. I have also had opportunity and support from the college I atteneded (University of West of Scotland, Hamilton campus) to obtain better qualifications (BSc degree rather than a Diploma) within a three year programme which I wouldn't have been able to achieve if I had been elsewhere.
"Having spent three years in Scotland during my studies I established relationships and links which made it easier for me to make the decision to work here. The transition from a student to a fulltime qualified employee can be quite stressful, however being in an environment where there is a lot of support really helped.
"As a foreign student, I felt that the Fresh Talent Scheme really eased the pressure of obtaining a job within a limited period of time. It meant that my employer did not have to prolong my commencement of work till they obtained a work permit for me.
"If I had been anywhere other than Scotland, I would not have had the opportunity to look for a suitable job without a very short time limit. It might have been a case of whatever job you can lay your hands on despite your interests in specific areas.
"Living, working and studying in Scotland has been fabulous. The social life is great, people are friendly and very supportive. Unfortunately you can not have it all, the weather is something else – we could do with a lot more sunshine!"
