Name: Jaydeep Joshi
Age: 25
Born: Bombay, India
Lived in Scotland: Since 2002
Jaydeep Joshi has been in Scotland for four short years. But in that time he has taken an MSc and found a job in one of the leading valve manufacturers in the oil and gas industry.
Jaydeep from Bombay first came to Scotland in 2002 to take an MSc in Oil and Gas Engineering at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
He graduated in 2004 and enjoyed the granite city so much that he applied for a job as a Customer Sales Representative with Cooper Cameron. They are global providers of pressure control pressing, flow control and compression systems in the oil and gas and process industries.
Now Jaydeep is working in planning logistics with the company and enjoying living and working in the city.
"I think Scotland is a great place to live and work in and I find the people here especially friendly," he said.
"I received some very good advice about my future career at Robert Gordon's and a lot of support.
"The course I took was primarily aimed at giving the student an insight into every aspect of the energy industry, without actually narrowing down into a specific field of expertise.
"The advantages were that young professionals found themselves well-versed and equipped with the various different fundamentals of the business."
At 25, Jaydeep has the world at his feet. Not only has he achieved a good degree from one of Scotland's best business institutions, he is working for a company in a major industry. The company is part of an international organisation with its headquarters in Houston, Texas.
"This has been my first time living abroad, away from home and it's truly been an experience to cherish all my life," he said.
"Aberdeen has been like a second home now that I have been here for four years. It has given me the right exposure to this industry.
"Although I would like to move around and see different places and experience different cultures, I would be more than happy if I get the opportunity to settle down in Aberdeen.
"I enjoy my job very much and I hope to stay in Scotland for several years."
